Fringe benefits
Today it is 42º Celsius / 107.6 Fahrenheit, where I am (Melbourne, Australia).

I got up early and worked until about 10am and then headed down the coast to cool off in the heat of the day. It was very refreshing. At times I was just chilling out and catching waves, at other times I was thinking about some current projects and business issues I’m facing.
The main point is I have the flexibility to plan my hours as I see fit. Something most employers talk about, but rarely institute. It’s a great fringe benefit for all entrepreneurs.
So when considering your corporate exit, or for those who already have, don’t forget to take advantage of the fringe benefits you’ve created.
The richness of life is far more important than getting rich.

When we start searching / thinking / developing new business name we ought start with .com
The reason is this simple: If the .com is available. Chances are everything else will be….
– trademark registration
– the local internet abbreviation (.co.uk) (.com.au)….
– business name
– limited corporation name
– IPO / stock exchange name
…and anything else worth having. They’ll all be the same.
This advice isn’t coming from the high ground either…. it comes from the battle scars of not doing so.
It may take a long time, but it’s worth the effort. It makes it easier for people to find you. And by definition, any start up should focus on making it easy for people who want to do business with us.
Background noise
A colleague who works from home mentioned he doesn’t have the TV on in the background while working.
He says it’s because his work ends up in the background while he’s watching TV!
