I was recently speaking with someone about training staff, and the benefits of really investing in our people. To which he replied:

‘What if I train them and they leave?’

I said:
‘What if you don’t, and they stay?’



  1. Well said. I recently worked for a company where people were viewed as easily replaceable and not worth investing in. Working at a company that really invests a lot of effort in employees makes a huge difference in how motivated I am. I’ll also give you one guess as to which company retains better employees.

  2. Maybe you should’ve advised that someone to understand & address the reason for someone leaving their org rather than not investing in staff in case they do …
