Radvertising – Pedigree

Who knew dogs jumping at 1000 frames per second could be so compelling?

The exciting bit is that anyone could have done this advertisement. Yes you, with a $500 digital camera on whatever it is you do…. really… really… slow. Over 2 million views and counting proves again that imagination is king for startups.

  1. That is an amazing ad! Perfect example of lateral thinking breeding a successful outcome. Not to dilute the message, I did want to add tho that a result so spectacular as this could never be done on the cheap – the hire of a camera that can shoot such clear shots at such a frame rate as this would be at least 10 times that figure, letalone the cost of the camera operator, and that is before you hire someone to light the scene perfectly so that the dogs don’t look like jumping mops, studio hire, dog trainers, etc etc. My point is not to bring a negative note to the post, but rather offer a sense of the reality of costs in producing something of the highest quality. Step one: use your brain and think of an amazing idea. Step two; use your $500 camera (or whatever product it is your prototyping) and create a great visualization to win yourself interest in pushing the project ahead so that you can produce it right (step 3). High quality output costs a lot, but a good idea is free for you to dream up. The hard and rewarding part is joining the dots. Thanks Steve for a great blog.
