Super Awesome Micro Project

As readers of my blog will know, I worked on a little side project with Raul Oaida (the tech mind who made it possible) and crowd funded it on twitter with 40 patrons from Melbourne.

A full size Lego car, with an engine made of Lego powered by air.

We just released it on youtube. We think it is pretty cool. I hope you do as well.

  1. That’s really cool. So will they be posting plans, lego parts lists and assembly instructions? 🙂

  2. Credit where credit is due! Great idea Steve. Merry Xmas to you and your family. Regards Alex, Mel & Max

  3. Hi Steve (& Raul),

I was hoping that the ‘Super Awesome Micro Project Car’ was still in Melbourne or in that matter Australia?

If so, and I could source the backing to get you & the car across that major barrier known as Bass Strait? Would you be interested in attending TAZ-brick’s ‘Brixihibition’ (Tasmanian LEGO exhibitions) to be held in Launceston, Tasmania on the 26 & 27 of April 2014?

The TAZ-brick Collectors club runs Brixihibition(.com) to raise monies for Autism Tasmania, and to share our love of the humble LEGO Brick with all those willing to toss a ‘Gold Coin’ into the bucket the door.

This year Brixihibition Launceston is moving to bigger premises, as we don’t want a repeat of last year with the public stood waiting in line for upwards of 45 minutes in order to get through the door. The venue proved to be far too small for the numbers of visitor the we had expected to attend.

My LEGO Mindstorms Robot arena shrunk from a planned 10^2 metres to less than 1 for long periods, resulting me sending my 7 year old son off crawling on all fours through patrons legs to retrieve many a runaway robot, often with a child attached to its controller. But teething problems are to be expected when running something for the first time, as well you would understand.

So with the new venue organised, we should have plenty of room for your car provided I leave a garage full of my own non-robotic LEGO packed up in my daughter’s garage.

We/I would love to share our little part of Tassie with you and hear of your exploits with LEGO Brick….

    cheers

    Ray
